MIM Products Manufacturing Processes
Find out about the manufacturing process for MIM products. Porite’s MIM Technology helps to solve customers’ problems.
Metal Powder
~Uses ultrafine powder of a few μm in size as the base material.
Binder Component
Comprised of components of several types such as resin and wax.
Mixing
The metal powder and binder are mixed together to produce a compound.
Granulation
The mixed base material is worked into a pellet form that can be used in injection molding.
The base material compound takes the form of pellets with a size of several millimeters.
Injection Molding
Complex 3D shapes can be formed in the same way as resin molding.
Undercut sections can also be formed by dividing the mold.
Debinding・Sintering
After the “debinding” process in which the added binder is removed, the next process is sintering. The material has a linear contraction rate of 10-20%, a volume contraction rate of 40%, and a sintered density that represents a relative density of at least 95%.
Undercut sections can also be formed by dividing the mold.
Post-processing
Post-processing such as heat treatment, sizing, machining, and plating can be performed as required.
