Awareness Raising for All Employees, and Full Participation
For each proposal for improvement, we provide a cash prize to employees and donate the same amount to support social welfare activities.
At Porite, in our improvement proposal system in which all employees can participate, we are implementing a trial where for each proposal for improvement, we provide a cash prize to employees and donate the same amount to support social welfare activities. This is a mechanism where improvements in one’s own work, and performing work simply and efficiently, supports activities that are beneficial for someone in the local community. This provides an opportunity for all employees to deepen their understanding of SDGs, while at the same time being able to feel the joy of direct participation in the SDGs. At Porite, there are over 2,000 proposals for improvement per year.
Fuel Cell Component Production,Introduction of Fuel Cells
Towards the Promotion of Clean Energy
In the field of clean energy, Porite produces core components for the fuel cell batteries that are presently becoming more and more common around the world. Fuel cell batteries generate electricity through an electrochemical reaction between hydrogen and oxygen, and thus do not emit carbon dioxide, which causes global warming. This is an innovative energy system that has overcome the two challenges of generating environmentally friendly energy and providing good quality ongoing electricity.
Porite's products are mainly used in industrial fuel cell servers that generate onsite power for medium to large facilities such as commercial and office buildings. Porite also installed a 250 kW fuel cell server at its Kumagaya 2nd plant (in Japan) in 2017, and this continues to be in practical use. This is the first ever example of a private introduction of an industrial fuel cell server in Japan.
Development of Bearings for High Efficiency Motors
Porite always challenges new technology and product development that goes one step ahead
A great contribution to the issue of energy is possible by making motors (which are said to consume half of the electricity the world consumes) more efficient and reducing the volume of electricity consumed. What holds the key to making motors more efficient is a core component of motors, that is, the sintered oil-impregnated bearing that Porite holds the top market share of in Japan. In addition to designing completely custom-made bearings, Porite also develops its own base material powders and impregnating oils and uses its advanced development capabilities aiming for a future that brings joy to our customers in accordance with our management policy of always taking on the challenge of new technologies and developing products that are one step ahead of the curve.
Plant improvement activities that take the environment into consideration
We do business respecting the natural environment and make an effort to preserve environment of society, regions and the earth.
As a producer of industrial waste, Porite takes concrete action to live up to its management policy of doing business respecting the natural environment and making an effort to preserve environment of society, regions and the earth. Porite has acquired ISO14001 certification and makes companywide efforts to tackle environmental issues, and through our steady efforts to reduce waste, we have gradually succeeded in making reductions. In recognition of this continuous effort, Porite received the 2018 Environment Prize for reduction in waste and overall emissions from the Japan Powder Metallurgy Association.
And to achieve a reduction in the electrical power we consume, at Porite we are putting together a specific action plan with elements including the installation of solar panels (making use of subsidies), updating air conditioning equipment, installing LED lighting, and re-examining our high-energy consumption equipment such as sintering furnaces and electrical transformers.
Initiatives Towards Diversity,Workstyle Reform, and Community Contribution
We pursue employee’s self-actualization and happiness of both employees and their families
At Porite, a diversity of people from many different household environments are at work in their workplaces.
With parental leave, childcare leave, and shorter working hours that support child rearing, Porite has put in place an environment that is favorable to employees even if they have children.
As an aspect of workstyle reform, Porite has brought in an attendance system that allows each employee to check how many hours they have worked in real time and manage their working times appropriately.
We also implement an annual employee questionnaire to gather frank opinions from employees. (Anonymous submissions OK)
After the questionnaire survey is complete and the president of the company has checked the content, we present the results to all employees in order to create an open and free environment.
We contribute to regional society through participation in local festivals and cleaning activities, and by opening our fire prevention facilities to the public among other things.
Furthermore, when the COVID-19 pandemic occurred, we took N95 masks from our own stock and donated them to the cities of Saitama and Kumagaya where our plants are located and to local medical institutions.
